There are some great essential products that I have found for Maine Coons that I wanted to share! I am not being paid for sharing these items. I am simply helping my followers save time and money. Often you will find "x-large" litter boxes or cat trees, when in fact they are still not large enough for a full grown Maine Coon.
The Frisco 33.5" Sisal cat scratching post or the Frisco 35" Heavy Duty Sisal cat scratching post with toy will hold up great for the Maine Coons.
The Frisco 65" XXL heavy duty cat tree or the Frisco 76" xxl heavy duty cat tree are excellent for Maine Coons. It is very tempting to buy other large or XXL cat trees. Trust me, we have tried several brands and sizes, but the Friscos are the trees that are actually xxl and will hold up for years to the size and strength of these big cats.
The Frisco multi function covered cat litter box, 29" is a good choice if you are looking for a covered box. It does come with a small litter pan on the inside but we take that out and pour the litter directly into the big litter box. It is the largest covered litter box we have found. We have also tried the Litter-Robot and it works decent for the females, but my male only fits from waste back in it. We did not find the value in it but I have heard other Maine Coon owners do use them. So it is a toss up whether your kitty will fit or like using this self cleaning litter box. Another popular self cleaning litter box I have heard a few Maine Coon owners like is the Popur self cleaning litter box. It seems to be larger and easier for them to use. My favorite box to use for my Maine Coons and the box all my cats prefer from small kitten to large male is a clear plastic storage container 7.5 quart up to 15.5 quart. Hands down for us this is the best choice.. I know if the cats could talk, they would agree! It doesn't matter which litter boxes I have, if the container is an option, they chose it time and time again!
A 116 quart plastic storage container is what we prefer the most for a litter box. It is large enough for a full grown Maine Coon to comfortably potty without the beautiful tail or hind tail coat to stay clean. We find that a metal scoop holds up the best and easy to clean!
We have a nice system to dispose of the poop and pee. We use plastic shopping bags from Amazon to put the poop in once it is scooped out of the litter box. Then we use a 5 gallon bucket with a lid to dispose of the plastic bag filled with poop and pee. This helps minimize the odor in our large roll away trash bin.
The gravity feeder for water and food is another way to keep fresh water and food out for your Maine Coon. Maine Coons like to paw at the water bowls often leaving a huge mess. However, the 1 gallon gravity waterer is heavy enough that they can't turn it over. This makes these awsome for your big kitty!
PurinaPro Plan is an excellent choice for hard food and wet food. Vets recommend it and the price point is on POINT! All AspenMC kitties are raised on it and we believe our cats our are as healthy of a colony as one can hope for!
We also love catios for our cats. Our favorite catio is Aivituvin catio cat enclosure.
Any type of interactive toy sure makes your feline family member happy! I get new a fun toys every couple of weeks! A simple box and plastic lid will even make them happy!
More to come on some of our favorite Maine Coon essentials!
